About

Château Ausone, located in the Saint-Émilion appellation of Bordeaux, is one of the region's most esteemed wineries. It takes its name from Decimius Magnus Ausonius, a Roman statesman and poet who owned vineyards in the area. The modern estate dates back to the 18th century, with significant contributions from the Lafargue and Dubois families. Despite facing challenges, including the 1956 frost, Ausone has maintained its reputation under the guidance of winemaker Pascal Delbeck and consultant oenologist Michel Rolland. The vineyard, with 7 hectares of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, produces only 2,000 cases annually, making it one of the most exclusive and expensive wines in Bordeaux.
