About

Château Angélus, a renowned estate in the Saint-Émilion appellation, boasts a rich history dating back to the de Bouard family's presence in Bordeaux since 1544. The estate's modern era began in 1910 when Maurice de Bouard de La Forest inherited Château Mazerat, and his wife Elisabeth Bouchet purchased the Clos L’Angelus vineyard in 1922. Today, the de Bouard family continues to own and manage the estate, which is known for its high-quality wines made from 50% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyards are planted on clay-limestone soils and are managed using organic viticulture practices. The wines undergo an elaborate aging process in new oak barrels, resulting in complex and concentrated wines that are highly regarded for their terroir expression and aging potential[1][2][4].
