About

Château Calon Ségur, a Third Growth in the Saint-Estèphe appellation, boasts a rich history dating back to the 12th century. The estate was acquired by Marquis Nicolas Alexandre de Ségur in the 18th century, who famously declared, "I make wine at Lafite and Latour, but my heart is in Calon." This sentiment is symbolized by a heart on the label. The vineyard, covering 55 hectares, is planted with 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. The wines are aged in 100% new barrels for 18 to 20 months, resulting in elegant, balanced expressions of the Medoc terroir. Known for its deep garnet-purple color and flavors of warm black fruit, black licorice, and molten dark chocolate, Château Calon Ségur produces wines that pair well with hearty stews and slow-cooked meats[1][2][3].
